33rd Illinois Volunteer Regiment Band

Charley enjoys playing unusual instruments and studying Civil War history. So it was only natural that he found his way into the 33rd Band. He has played in a variety of brass bands and jazz groups in the Chicago area, where he lives with his wife and family. He can be found playing tenor horn and tuba in the 33rd. And hardly anyone holds it against him that his distant relation Isaac E. Shallcross deserted at the Battle of Stones River in 1862.
