Jerry Dunn

Jerry Dunn plays Eb tuba in the band.  He has a BA in Performance from California State University in Fullerton and completed his post graduate music teacher education at Northeastern Illinois State University in Chicago.  As a student, he studied with Julian Porrit, Tommy Johnson and Arnold Jacobs.  He was a band director in Iowa and Alaska. While teaching in Alaska, he became an aviation enthusiast, obtained a pilot license, and went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller.  He retired from the FAA as a senior level manager of ten FAA facilities in Montana.  


He has been an active performer and conductor in community bands, quintets and orchestras in Illinois, Iowa, Alaska, California, Montana and Oregon. 


He and his wife Mary recently retired to Carlinville where they both have become involved with local community bands. Mary is a percussionist. They have four brass-playing sons who are now in the Army, Captain Richard Dunn with the 10th Mountain Division; Captain Aaron Dunn, with the  82nd Airborne Division; Captain Noel Dunn, Army Special Forces and Jarred Dunn, social worker for the Boys Group home in Billings, Montana.
