Chicago Tribune, December 14, 1865: The Teachers’ Battle Flag, Return of the colors of the 33d Illinois Regiment
[It was] “felt however, that it was not right that the teachers should retain these colors here, and he recommended that they should be sent to the State Normal University, and deposited among the archives for safe keeping. Mr. Cutler approved of such a course, and put it in the form of a motion, which was carried.”
